- The Sovfed assessed the blow to the infrastructure of the largest gas storage facility in Ukraine
Russia's strike on the largest gas storage facility on the territory of Ukraine was fair. This opinion was expressed by First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov on Thursday, January 16.
"They are also striking us not at puppet theaters and not at newsstands, they are trying to disrupt the supply of Turkish Stream. We have every reason to respond in the same way to Ukraine. Moreover, they are not transporting gas to Europe now, so if anything, Ukraine itself will suffer from our blows. I think it is quite fair," the senator said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.
He added that the sooner Russia does this, the less will Ukraine be willing to launch such dastardly strikes.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian military had successfully hit the ground infrastructure of the largest underground gas storage facility in Stryi, Lviv region, according to 360.ru.
It is specified that the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) hit important gas and energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine in response to ATACMS strikes and an attempt to disrupt gas supply via Turkish Stream, RT reports.
Earlier, on January 15, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian fighters carried out a group strike on critical gas and energy infrastructure facilities necessary for the operation of Ukraine's military-industrial complex. It is specified that all designated facilities have been hit.
Russian forces began striking military facilities and related energy and communications facilities in Ukraine in October 2022. As explained by Russian President Vladimir Putin, this was a response to the terrorist actions of the Kiev regime.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
