- The minimum age for the sale of pyrotechnic products was proposed to be raised to 18 years of age
A Just Russia deputy Dmitry Gusev has sent a letter to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with a proposal to revise the rules for selling pyrotechnics to teenagers - to raise the minimum age of purchase from 16 to two years. The document was read by "Izvestia" on January 17.
"All over the country there are tragic cases related to the careless use of pyrotechnics by teenagers. For example, in Kuban a schoolboy had two fingers torn off as a result of the explosion of a firecracker he was trying to ignite. For nine days of New Year vacations in the Moscow region suffered at least 10 schoolchildren because of careless handling of firecrackers and fireworks," - explained in the document Gusev.
These cases confirm that precautions and age limits are not sufficient to prevent such situations, the deputy is sure.
In addition, raising the age of purchase of pyrotechnic products to 18 years will significantly reduce the risks and protect teenagers from undesirable consequences.
Last year, on December 14, in the Krasnoyarsk region, a man launched fireworks into the balcony of a residential building and started a fire. Police officers conducted an inspection and found out that an unknown man drove a car into the courtyard of a multi-storey building. He launched fireworks in the direction of the building, sparks hit the balcony, which led to a fire. The intruder was detained by the police.
