- Russian Investment Forum in Sochi will not be held in February for the fifth year in a row
In February 2025, the Russian Investment Forum (RIF) in Sochi will not be held for the fifth time in a row, representatives of businesses and regions that have previously participated in the event told Izvestia. Traditionally, it has been held in February.
The SME Corporation, Business Russia, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that they had not received any invitations, and no dates had been announced. In addition, the Arkhangelsk, Tula, and Ulyanovsk regions told the editorial board that they had not received invitations. The Zabaikalsky Krai has no information about the RIF.
The last time the RIF was held in 2019. But last summer, presidential advisor Anton Kobyakov said that the event could be resumed in February 2025. According to him, there is no generalizing forum on the regional agenda now.
After 2019, the Russian Federation fell into a band of difficult political and economic conditions, which seriously hampered the participation of non-residents, as well as private investors, in projects, said independent expert Andrei Barkhota.
Today, potential RIF participants are concerned about "hot" issues - the stability and exchange rate of the ruble, wage growth, the fate of household deposits in banks, the availability of credit resources for corporate borrowers, believes Irina Khominich, Professor of the Department of Global Financial Markets and Fintech at Plekhanov Russian Economic University. They are discussed on such platforms as SPIEF, WEF, Moscow FinForum.
