Court arrests second new defendant in Kirillov murder case

Basmanny District Court of Moscow has remanded Batukhan Tochiev, the second new defendant in the case of murder of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops of the Russian Armed Forces, and his assistant, in custody until February 17. This was reported by the Izvestia correspondent from the courtroom on January 16.
The hearing was held in closed mode.
Earlier in the day, the court arrested another defendant in the Kirillov murder case - Ramazan Padiev- until February 17.
Two new suspects of involvement in the terrorist attack against Kirillov were detained on January 13 in Ingushetia. Izvestiya's source reported that they were Padiev and Batukhan Tochiev. According to law enforcement agencies, the detainees were tasked by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to provide housing and personal transportation for the perpetrators of the terrorist attack on Kirillov.
Kirillov and his assistant were killed on the morning of December 17, 2024 as a result of detonation of an explosive device planted in a scooter at the entrance of an apartment building in Moscow.
On December 18, the FSB reported the detention of 29-year-old suspect Akhmad Kurbanov. During interrogation, he said that he was recruited by the special services of Ukraine. For the murder of Kirillov he was promised a reward of $100 thousand and a trip to live in one of the EU countries. The attacker could face a sentence of up to life imprisonment. The Basmanny court of Moscow arrested Kurbanov until February 17.
