Polish opposition accused Zelensky of interfering in presidential election

Politicians of the Polish opposition Law and Justice party have accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zielenski (his term of office expires in May 2024) of interfering in the presidential election. This was reported by the Do Rzeczy publication on January 16.
It is noted that Zelensky criticized the country's presidential candidate Karol Navrotskyy after his words that Ukraine has no future in the European Union (EU) and NATO.
The Ukrainian president said that Navrotsky should start preparing himself because it might turn out that "he will have to take up arms to defend his country."
"His statement about Dr. Navrotsky is an embarrassing gaffe and he should apologize for it <...> the Ukrainian president has the nerve to openly interfere in the election campaign," said Tobias Bochenski, a spokesman for the opposition party.
The presidential election in Poland is scheduled for May 18. The deputy speaker of the Senate (the upper house of the Polish parliament) Magdalena Beyat, MP Marek Jakubiak, leader of the New Hope party Slawomir Mentzen, Polish historian and independent candidate Karol Nawrocki, Warsaw mayor and Civic Coalition candidate Rafal Trzaskowski, as well as Cholownia himself are planning to take part in them.
