The average cost of a used car in Russia has fallen to 2 million rubles
By the end of 2024, the average cost of a car with mileage in Russia has fallen to 2 million rubles, which is 12% below the level of January last year. This was reported to "Izvestia" on January 17 by the experts of "Auto.ru Valuation".
Over the year, the average age of a used passenger car increased to almost nine years, and the mileage approached 145 thousand kilometers. Domestic brands retain presence in the market with a share of 13%, Germany (22%), Japan (21%) and South Korea (17%) are higher. Chinese cars have not yet started to enter the secondary market en masse, their share for the whole 2024 is 3.3%.
The list of regions in which the average cost of a car with mileage at the end of the year decreased the most was headed by the Smolensk region. Compared to January values, the price of a used car there decreased by 28.6% to 1.34 million rubles. Lipetsk region (-27%; Br980 thousand) and Penza region (-24.2%; Br1.09 million) are next.
The top ten ranking of the models, the cost of which decreased the most, was headed by Lada Largus (-14.6%; Br966 thousand), followed by Chery Tiggo 8 Pro (-12.6%; Br2.25 million) and Exeed TXL (-12%; Br2.81 million). Haval F7, Chery Tiggo 4 and Tiggo 7 Pro, Renault Logan II, Lada Xray, Exeed VX and Range Rover IV are next. It is noted that the average value of almost all cars with mileage in the top ten has decreased by 10% or more over the year.
January 16, it was reported that from January 1 to January 15, 2025, the prices of new cars increased in nine brands officially represented in the Russian market. Most of all models went up in price at the brand Haval: Jolion, H3, M6, F7 and H5. Prices increased by Br100-200 thousand (+3.1-5.4%), depending on the model and modification.
