From January 27, the tariff corridor for CMTPL insurance will be extended for some types of vehicles. The changes were announced by the Bank of Russia in its Telegram channel on January 16.

The boundaries of the tariff corridor in both directions will be expanded by 11.57% for public transport (trolleybuses, streetcars, buses) and by 20% for motorcycles and trucks with an authorized maximum weight of 16 tons and below. It is noted that the prime rates on MTPL for ordinary motorists will remain at the same level.

The Central Bank emphasized that the expansion of the tariff corridor due to the high unprofitability of these categories of transport. Small trucks are more often guilty of accidents with a maximum damage of Br400 thousand, said the regulator. At the same time, the amount of damage from accidents caused by motorcycles increased by 32%. For motorcyclists also changes the scale of age and experience of the driver and introduces a new coefficient depending on the engine capacity. They affect the amount of the insurance premium.

In addition, the Bank of Russia announced that in a number of regions at the end of January will be updated the values of the territorial coefficient (CT), which affects the cost of the policy. In some regions they will decrease (the maximum reduction will be 6%), and in other regions, where its current value does not correspond to the increased losses, on the contrary, will increase (by a maximum of 10.5%).

On December 25 last year, the head of the All-Russian Union of Insurers Evgeny Ufimtsev told Izvestia that in 2025 the price of MTPL insurance will increase by about 9%. He noted that the average payment on MTPL continues to grow and has already exceeded Br100 thousand. At the same time, the average price of the policy did not increase in 2024, while spare parts for foreign cars went up by about 10-12% in December.
