Zakharova called the world community's silence on Kiev's crimes revealing
The silence of specialized international structures on Kiev's crimes against Russian citizens is indicative. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on 16 January.
In her words, the deliberate killing of Russian journalists as part of the terror unleashed by Ukraine against the peaceful population of Russia requires a proper response from the entire international community and specialized organizations.
As an example, she cited the Kiev regime's January 4 targeted attack on a car carrying Russian journalists in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), which killed Izvestiya correspondent Alexander Martemyanov.
"The silence of these structures is becoming indicative. <...> It is obvious that with their silence and inaction they are now not just indulging, but they are now becoming accomplices of these crimes," Zakharova said at the briefing.
It is obvious that specialized organizations completely discredit the principles on which their work was built, the official spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Ukrainian militants have repeatedly attacked media representatives. On January 4, Izvestiya military correspondent Alexander Martemyanov was killed when a Ukrainian army drone hit a car on the Donetsk-Gorlovka highway. Several representatives of the Russian media were also wounded at the time.
On April 19, 2024, Izvestiya military correspondent Semyon Eremin was killed in the special operation zone. The journalist was 42 years old. The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation said that Eremin died as a result of a targeted attack by the AFU. The agency intends to identify all those involved in the journalist's death.
On 13 January, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said that Kiev was afraid of the truth, which is why it was organizing targeted attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) against Russian war correspondents.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
