Damage from the collision of a train and a KamAZ near Volgograd exceeded 117 million rubles

The amount of damage caused as a result of an accident involving a KamAZ truck and a passenger train in Volgograd region, according to preliminary data, exceeded 117 million rubles. This was reported on January 16 by Viktor Kozlov, first deputy head of the Western Interregional Investigative Directorate for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"The preliminary amount of damage exceeds 117 million rubles, but this amount is not final," he told RIA Novosti.

The Kazan-Adler passenger train derailed in the Volgograd region on July 29, 2024. The cause was the departure of the truck "KamAZ" on the railroad crossing, resulting in a collision with the train. On August 7, it became known that the driver of the truck died in hospital.

According to Russian Railways, about 140 people were injured as a result of the accident. Later, August 17, it was reported that all the victims were discharged from hospitals in the Volgograd region. A criminal case was opened under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules of movement and operation of rail, air, sea and inland water transport and subway").
