The same vehicle mileage in an urban environment or on the highway has a different effect on the engine oil life. The same time of operation of the power unit in motor-hours at low loads at about idle speeds and operation at maximum load at high speeds also affects it differently. Alexander Sosnovsky, head of Takayama's technical marketing department, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta on January 16.

"In service books, carmakers often regulate the interval of engine oil change based on kilometers of mileage, but few people pay attention to the fact that the carmaker specifies a separate regulation for normal operating conditions and a separate regulation for severe conditions," Sosnovsky explained.

According to the auto expert, in modern cars the operating conditions are automatically determined by the control unit based on the signals of the relevant sensors. Therefore, the motorist only needs to be guided by the mileage prescribed by the automaker or signals on the on-board computer if the service interval is correctly observed.

He noted that oil life depends on operation: at extreme temperatures (high or low), in urban and mountainous areas, when driving with a trailer, sporty driving style, as well as on fuel quality and engine condition.

January 13, auto expert Alexander Kovalev said that Nissan Note, Mitsubishi Lancer IX and Toyota Corolla are the best choice among Japanese models in the secondary market with a budget of Br500 thousand.

January 9, auto expert Pavel Bakharev warned that in case of freezing of engine oil in the car should not restart the engine: it may damage its components. The oil may freeze due to its viscosity class, which does not correspond to winter conditions, he explained.
