There were 259 traffic accidents in Russia over the past day

Over the past day, 259 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 40 people were killed and 320 injured. 32 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Thursday, January 16, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 89 traffic accidents involving pedestrians, eight people were killed, another 86 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 15 child pedestrians, seven of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents with pedestrians, 44 occurred at crosswalks and 45 outside their zone of action.

There were 13 accidents involving buses, in which one person was killed and 12 other road users required medical assistance. Six accidents involving buses were caused by violations of traffic rules committed by drivers of other vehicles.

Thus, in the Sakhalin region, at an unregulated intersection on a regional highway, a truck driver did not give priority to traffic when entering the main road and collided with a school bus that was traveling on the route Uglezavodsk - Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk with three adult passengers in the cabin. After the collision, the bus went off the road. As a result of the accident, one of its passengers was hospitalized with bodily injuries.

In Karelia, on a regional highway, a school bus traveling without passengers had two rear left wheels disconnect while driving and hit a pedestrian who was moving towards the bus on the edge of the roadway. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian was injured and ended up in hospital.

There were 32 accidents involving minors, in which 35 young road users were injured, including 18 passengers. One child passenger died. Thus, in Krasnoyarsk region on the federal highway R-255 "Siberia" the driver of a foreign car went into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a truck. The motorist himself and two of his passengers, including his four-year-old daughter, who was in the back seat in a child restraint device without a belt, were killed in the accident. The second minor passenger of the passenger car, the six-year-old son of its driver, was hospitalized with injuries. The boy was in the back seat at the time of the accident and was also not buckled up.

"We remind drivers that the life and health of their young passengers depend entirely on the skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding behavior of the person behind the wheel on the road. Do not make dangerous maneuvers, refuse from risky manner of driving, do not exceed the permitted speed limit, especially in conditions of limited visibility and winter weather, observe the distance and lateral interval between vehicles: leave yourself time to react adequately to the possible at any moment change in the traffic situation. We also draw the attention of drivers to strict compliance with the rules of transportation of children in the car. Take care of your young passengers, not allowing from their side even the preconditions for a possible tragedy," - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.

The day before it was reported that the State Duma has developed a bill to increase fines for drivers of vehicles with a maximum speed of 30 km / h, who do not mark their car with a special sticker "Quiet vehicle". The deputies propose to make such a violation a separate offense and increase fines from 500 to 3 thousand rubles.
