Head of Voronezh region rules out threat to population due to oil depot fire
There is no threat to the population due to the burning of an oil depot in Voronezh Region after the downing of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) drones. This was reported by regional governor Alexander Gusev on January 16.
According to him, on the night of January 16, three districts of the region were attacked by 10 Ukrainian drones, most of the attacks came to the oil depot in the Liskinsky district, where a fire started.
"There is no threat to the population. The availability of fuel and lubricants in the Voronezh region will not be affected by the situation," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
At the moment, reinforced fire brigades are fighting the fire on several tanks of the oil depot, additional forces have been sent to help them, Gusev said.
The governor of the Voronezh region reported a fire on the territory of the oil depot as a result of the fall of several Ukrainian drones in the evening of January 15.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense forces had destroyed five Ukrainian drones over two Russian regions. It was specified that four drones were eliminated over the territory of the Voronezh region and one over the Belgorod region. The attacks were repelled between 18:40 and 18:50 Moscow time.
Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
