A fox sick with rabies bit a girl in the village of Pozdneyevka, Amur region, and then attacked a man. This was reported on January 16 in the press service of the regional veterinary department.

"First she (fox. - Ed.) attacked a girl walking by and bit her finger. Then it tried to attack a man. A local resident killed the aggressive animal and reported the incident to the Amur Veterinary Department," the Telegram channel reports.

The victim was taken to the medical department of the hospital, where specialists gave her all the necessary vaccinations. At the scene of the incident, specialists are working to disinfect the area. A quarantine has been imposed in the locality.

Pavel Dikikhikh, head of the department of protection, control and regulation of the use of fauna objects and their habitat of the Amur region, said in a conversation with Izvestia that on January 14, the governor of the Amur region issued a decree on imposing rabies restrictions in the Romnya district.

"In connection with this, regulation of the number of foxes was introduced in the region. Specialists arrived on the scene and started shooting animals for further transfer to the laboratory for rabies disease testing," he said.

Earlier, on December 12 last year, it was reported that a resident of Mikhailovka, Volgograd region, died after being bitten by a fox sick with rabies. A case of rabies disease in a 44-year-old woman was established in November 2024.
