Politician accuses NATO of trying to unleash World War III through Romania
NATO, in particular the bloc's Secretary General Mark Rutte, may be trying to unleash a third world war. This was stated on January 15 by the independent candidate for the Romanian presidency Calin Georgescu.
"Mr. Rutte, the head of NATO, has tried to impose his rules and launch a third world war in the region of Ukraine through, in particular, Romania," he said on the air of American blogger and journalist Alex Jones' podcast on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
Georgescu also pointed to a split within the alliance itself, which cannot choose between a "European wing" and the "independence of [ U.S. President-elect] Donald Trump."
On January 15, military analyst Vadim Mingalev said that Rutte had urged the alliance to prepare for war to show support for Ukraine and appease Kiev.
The bloc's secretary general made a corresponding statement earlier in the day. He emphasized that NATO now needs to switch to a wartime way of thinking. According to the organization's secretary-general, this requires an increase in defense spending.
On January 12, Georgescu said that the NATO base in Romania could be used to start a war against Russia. According to him, the silence of the United States and its allies about what is happening in Romania shows their complete misunderstanding of the situation.
In March, Romanian television reported that the largest NATO military base in Europe will appear on the territory of the country. It could be deployed by 2040 after the expansion of the 57th air base of the country's Air Force named after Mihail Cogalniceanu.
