Magnitude 5.7 earthquake hits eastern Solomon Islands
An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 was recorded near the shores of the Solomon Islands archipelago Santa Cruz. This was reported on January 16 in the Australian State Geological Bureau.
According to the latest data, the epicenter was located 10 km from Vanikoro Island and lay at a depth of 50 km. There was no information about casualties and destruction, the threat of tsunami was also not announced.
Earlier, on January 15, the earthquake with magnitude 5.7 occurred in the center of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Seismic activity occurred in 1244 km to the south-west from the village of Akarau. The origin of the earthquake was located at a depth of 10 km.
