Mi-28NM helicopter crew disrupted rotation of AFU units in the Kursk border area
An army aviation crew on a Mi-28NM helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group has disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on January 16.
It is specified that as part of the combat mission to support ground troops, the pilots of the Army aviation carried out missile launches at specified coordinates, destroying enemy armored vehicles with AFU personnel.
Also after the strike, the crews performed anti-missile maneuvering at extremely low altitude with the firing of heat traps preventing missiles from hitting the enemy's man-portable air defense missile system (MANPADS). The destruction of the target was later confirmed.
Earlier, on January 15, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Ka-52M crew disrupted the AFU rotation in the border area of the Kursk region. Thus, the pilots destroyed armored vehicles and personnel of the enemy.
The AFU attacked the positions of the Russian Federation in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the President of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
