Precise measures: Putin announced payments to veterans of the Great Patriotic War
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, their widows, as well as juvenile prisoners of concentration camps will receive Br80 thousand each in the year of the Great Victory anniversary. Br55 thousand will also be allocated to home front workers and residents of besieged Leningrad. Vladimir Putin signed a decree on this on January 15. The lump-sum payments will be made in April - May. In addition, all participants of the Great Patriotic War will receive the title of "Honorary Citizen". Support for veterans in Russia
Vladimir Putin on January 15 held a meeting of the Organizing Committee "Victory", which since 2000 is engaged in patriotic education, as well as working with veterans. The focus was on preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
- In May we will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Its significance in the fate of Russia, in the character and values of all our people is truly colossal. As a sign of our undying memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War and the great victory over Nazism as a symbol of the unbreakable continuity of generations, 2025 has been declared the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland in Russia," Vladimir Putin said.
The President asked regional authorities to treat the preparation of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory "according to conscience", avoiding formalism. He also instructed local leaders to meet personally with veterans of the Great Patriotic War and learn about their problems. On the same day Vladimir Putin announced a new measure of their support - he signed a decree on a one-time payment of 80 thousand rubles to disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War, former juvenile prisoners of concentration camps established during World War II, widows of servicemen who died during the war with Finland, the Great Patriotic War, the war with Japan, as well as for widows (widowers) of deceased disabled veterans and participants in the Great Patriotic War. These are citizens of the Russian Federation, including those living in Latvia, Lithuania, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transnistria.
Home front workers and residents of besieged Leningrad, as well as adult prisoners of concentration camps are entitled to Br55 thousand under the same decree. Lump-sum payments will be made in April-May. The President also supported the idea of the Ministry of Defense to grant all war veterans the title of "Honorary Citizen.
- Today there are only about 7 thousand front-line soldiers in Russia. It is extremely important to surround them with special care, to make sure that none of them is left without attention," said Defense Minister Andrei Belousov.
A significant role during the war was also played by the rear enterprises, which uninterruptedly provided the front with everything necessary, the President said. According to him, 63 cities, where such production facilities were located, have the honorary title "City of Labor Valor. By decree on this day such a title was given to Kurgan, Verkhnyaya Pyshma (Sverdlovsk region), Ishimbay (Republic of Bashkortostan), Miass (Chelyabinsk region), Zelenodolsk (Republic of Tatarstan), Leninsk-Kuznetskiy (Kemerovo region - Kuzbass) and Salekhard (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District).
Preparations for the Victory Anniversary
In the year of celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, the President instructed to thoroughly analyze the condition of war memorials and to put burial grounds in immaculate order. In 2025 it is planned to hold more than 3 thousand search events, said the Minister of Defense.
The central event will traditionally be the parade on Red Square on May 9 - military men from 19 friendly countries have been invited to participate, 10 of them have already confirmed their participation, said Andrei Belousov. According to him, the historical part of the parade will include foot columns with standards of the fronts, battle banners of the glorious formations and the most distinguished military units, weapons and equipment of the Great Patriotic War, as well as mechanized columns of historical military equipment. The parades will be held in Moscow and eight other hero-cities. The units will include members of the NWO. In addition, Russian military formations will take part in Victory Day celebrations in South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the minister said.
Active work for the anniversary of the Great Victory is going on at all levels, including among volunteers. Olga Zanko, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Civil Society Development and chairwoman of the Victory Volunteers, told Izvestia that the plan is to involve more than 500,000 people across the country and beyond in the work of the International Volunteer Corps for the 80th Anniversary of Victory. Today they have already been opened in 85 subjects of Russia and 16 countries of the world, including Australia, Argentina, Zambia, India, Colombia, Moldova, South Korea. Volunteers will help already on January 27 - the Day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade. Volunteers will also take part in the organization of such actions as "St. George's Ribbon", "Immortal Regiment", "Candle of Memory", Victory Parade and others, the parliamentarian specified. In addition, they hold events dedicated to the defense of historical truth. Vladimir Putin noted the key importance of historical sovereignty in the formation of civic position and self-consciousness in the younger generation.
- I am sure that the main, basic theme that binds all events, projects and programs together should be the theme of historical truth. Coverage of the events of the Great Patriotic War, based on archival documents, eyewitness testimonies, scientific knowledge, is of key importance for the formation of a sovereign worldview, civic position and self-consciousness in the younger generation," the President said.
To counter falsification of history, the Ministry of Defense will hold more than 20 military-historical events in Russia and abroad in 2025, said Andrei Belousov. The head of the ministry proposed to introduce a course in Russian schools to study the exploits of the defenders of the Fatherland during the Great Patriotic War.
