The most unusual parcels of Russians are named
Brown horses, hair, church utensils, tokens, Tarot cards, therapeutic mud and spinning reels were among the unusual items that were sent across Russia and from neighboring countries in 2024. This is stated in the research results of the international express delivery operator SDEK, which were read by Izvestia on January 16.
From August to November 2024 among the strange shipments in the country stood out fishing accessories (fishing gear, spinning rods, nets and aquashoos), antique and theatrical goods (mannequins, corsets, antique scales, carnival costumes), as well as oversized items for repair and interior (baseboards, heating boilers, bedside tables, switches). With the onset of cold weather, gingerbread stamps in the shape of houses and snowflakes became especially popular.
The most popular category for intra-Russian shipments over the year was "Beauty and Care" goods, which accounted for 18% of all shipments. This is followed by auto parts (10%), clothing and footwear (8%), accessories (6%), perfumes (2%), health (2%) and electronics (2%).
Speaking about international shipments, experts noted that from Armenia to Russia mainly came goods from the category "Beauty and Care" and "Accessories" (2% each). Among the unusual goods were effects pedals for guitars, cocktail sets, ophthalmic ultrasound scanners, artificial strands for extensions and wooden boxes.
At the same time, auto parts (12%), goods for beauty and health (7%) and clothes with shoes (6%) were most often sent from Belarus to Russia. Among the unique items: car keys, plows for heavy power tillers and mini-tractors, medals, cups, as well as decorative goods - feathers and holders for fishing rods.
Earlier, on September 28, Andrey Potovin, head of packaging projects at SDEK, told Izvestia how to properly pack parcels. According to him, the size of the box should be selected so that there is 2 to 5 cm of free space from the shipment, packed in three layers of bubble wrap, to the bottom, top and side walls of the box. This space is filled with cushioning materials - special filler, crumpled packing paper, bubble wrap, inflatable elements. When choosing a box, it is important to consider the material from which it is made, its durability and appearance.
