- The trial of the father of the schoolgirl who committed a shooting in Bryansk has been partially closed
The Bezhitsky district court of the city of Bryansk has decided to partially close the trial in the case of Dmitry Afanaskin, the father of a 14-year-old schoolgirl who committed a shooting at a gymnasium. This was reported by a TASS correspondent from the courtroom on January 15.
"The court, taking into account the opinion of the parties, considers that in the part of the indictment, also in the part of the announcement of the introductory and operative parts of the verdict, the court session will be held in open mode," the judge said.
According to the judge, the interrogation of minor witnesses at an open hearing may affect the objectivity of testimony.
Earlier, December 12, the defendants in the case of the shooting in gymnasium № 5 in Bryansk appealed against the court's decisions on their preventive measures. Among the complainants was the girl's father, Dmitri Afanaskin. The prosecutor's office argued that the ruling on his arrest was issued with violations of criminal procedure law.
Afanaskin was charged with negligent possession of a firearm and leading to suicide.
The tragedy occurred on December 7, when a 14-year-old girl opened fire with her father's gun at a school in Bryansk, after which she committed suicide. As a result of the incident, five students were injured. One of the schoolgirls died. A criminal case on the murder of two or more persons (part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) has been initiated as a result of the incident.
