One of the main reasons for the rise in the price of Lada cars is the sanctions pressure. This was stated by AvtoVAZ head Maxim Sokolov, Izvestia correspondent reports from the company's press conference on January 15.

"We are certainly experiencing sanctions pressure, and in the year and a half since September 2023, when sanctions were imposed on AvtoVAZ, they have only intensified. Secondary sanctions have been added, which have made logistics chains, sending payments more complicated. This has significantly affected the price of our products," Sokolov said.

At the same time, according to the head of AvtoVAZ, now the level of localization of Lada cars exceeds 90%. The company has managed to achieve such technological sovereignty that even if "someone pushes the button," it can still continue to produce cars at a high enough speed, he said.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that AvtoVAZ has planned 15 major product events for 2025, including the launch of brand new models and updates to existing ones. One of the major new products will be the debut of the new Lada Iskra, which will sit between the more affordable Granta and the flagship Vesta in the brand's lineup. The new Lada Iskra together with the pre-production version of Lada Niva Sport were presented to the public during the press conference.

The company also said that AvtoVAZ plans to launch sales of a new Lada minivan in 2027. The preparation of the model is being carried out in a short time.
