The contribution of tourism to Moscow's economy during the New Year vacations increased 1.5 times

The total contribution of tourism to the economy of Moscow during the New Year holidays amounted to 136.8 billion rubles, the budget received 18.7 billion rubles. This is 1.5 times more than for the last winter season in comparable prices, said in his official Telegram-channel the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin.

"Moscow has preserved and strengthened the status of the most important center of winter tourism in Russia", - the head of the city stressed. He noted that the capital was visited by residents of Russian regions and tourists from Armenia, Belarus, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, China, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and many other countries.

The guests walked along classic tourist routes and at numerous sites of the project "Winter in Moscow", where they took part in quests and master classes, spent time on skating rinks, hills and ski slopes.

The average occupancy rate of 3 and 4 star hotels during the holidays was 90% and higher. A total of seven million guests visited the city during the vacations - one and a half times more than last year.

The realization of the demanded projects in the sphere of tourism and hospitality, including the project "Winter in Moscow", will be continued, concluded the mayor.
