A resident of the Sakhalin region is accused of attempting to transport fish contraband worth about 20 million rubles, as well as illegal storage of unlabeled fish products. This was reported by the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry Irina Volk on January 15.

"Currently, the entrepreneur is charged with crimes under Articles 171.1 ("Storage, transportation or sale of goods and products without labeling") and 226.1 ("Smuggling") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The defendant has been chosen a measure of restraint in the form of subscription on not leaving and proper behavior," - specified in the message in the Telegram-channel.

Wolf specified that the resident of the Sakhalin region concluded a contract with a foreign company for the delivery of fish to one of the Asian countries. The chum salmon he purchased for shipment abroad did not have accompanying documents, and the defendant issued false certificates with false information about the manufacturer, date of manufacture and expiration date.

According to the investigation, he managed to transport the first batch of 20 tons of goods across the Russian border. And when transporting the second part weighing about 18 tons, he was detained by officers of the Ussuriysk customs. In addition, it was established that the accused illegally transported almost 4 tons of red caviar under false documents. Illegal goods were discovered and seized by officers of the UFSB of Russia in Primorsky Krai.

Earlier, on December 18, 2024, in Moscow, officers of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of the Russian Federation detained a foreign student for organizing a channel for smuggling military products to China. During a search of his room, more than 100 Russian and Soviet-made military items were found. Two criminal cases on smuggling of military equipment were opened on this fact, and the accused was given a measure of restraint in the form of a non-departure undertaking.
