Psychologists have assessed the dangers of watching bloggers' binge-eating videos
Candidate of medical sciences, psychotherapist Marat Saraev and director of the crisis psychological center, psychoanalyst Irina Smolyarchuk told on Monday, January 13, who can watch mokpans, or mukbangs - videos of bloggers on which they eat food in large quantities during a long broadcast - without consequences for their mental health, and who should refuse them.
According to Saraev, mokpan content can have a negative impact on a child's unformed psyche.
"Such videos provoke the consumption of large amounts of food in a person, that is, they irritate, so to speak, the center of food consumption. Accordingly, a person wants to eat more than it will be necessary", - added the psychotherapist in conversation with "Radio 1".
In turn, Smolyarchuk noted that mukbang is watched by three categories of people: two have mental disorders - these are those who have sadistic tendencies and those who suffer from an eating disorder. The third group is made up of mentally healthy people who like to observe the lives of others.
The psychoanalyst noted that people with sadistic tendencies are favorably affected by such content.
"This is a category of people who need to watch such videos in order to live these states inside themselves (aggressive treatment, violent actions towards others), they are associated with hormonal poisoning, norepinephrine and cortisol. And for such people, these videos for the psyche are quite ecological," she explained.
People suffering from bulimia, anorexia and orthorexia try to cope with their illness through watching mokpan.
Earlier, scientists from King's College London came to conclusions after a study that teenagers who have such personality traits as neuroticism and impulsivity are more likely than others to develop eating disorders - anorexia and bulimia, reports 360.ru.
