State Duma says Ukraine's attack threatening Europe
An attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to attack the infrastructure of the Russkaya compressor station in Gai-Kodzor in Krasnodar Region, which supplies gas through the Turkish Stream pipeline, is a threat to Europe. This opinion was expressed by Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee, on Monday, January 13.
"Ukraine has blocked its gas pipe, leaving several countries of the European Union without gas. But we have the "Turkish Stream". They are trying to block this option as well. But this is not against us, we will find a place to use our gas. It is Ukraine that has already started a war against Europe," the MP said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.
The politician recalled that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban had earlier tried to make a remark to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (his term of office expired in May 2024), to which the Ukrainian leader replied: "Who is Orban? Does he have an army?"
According to Kolesnik, the European Union discounted the army for Ukraine, and now Ukraine looms as a threat to Europe.
"Europe shot itself in the ass by arming Ukraine to the teeth. Now they are reaping the fruits of their activities," he concluded.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that on January 11 Ukraine tried to attack with nine drones the Russkaya compressor station in the Krasnodar region, through which gas is supplied by the Turkish Stream pipeline, in order to cut off gas supplies to European countries, RT reported.
Air defense units repelled the attack, shooting down all the drones, NSN reports. The station's personnel were not injured, and destruction was also avoided. Fragments of one of the drones fell, slightly damaging the building and equipment of the gas-measuring station at Russkaya. Gazprom's emergency response teams on duty quickly eliminated the consequences of falling fragments and repaired the equipment.
The Russkaya compressor station normally supplies gas to the Turkish Stream, there was no pumping failure, 360.ru reported.
Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
