RDIF multiplied state funds invested in the fund by almost six times
The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has invested over 2.3 trillion rubles in the country's economy with its partners. This became known at a meeting between Vladimir Putin and the fund's CEO Kirill Dmitriev. RDIF plans to invest another Br270 billion in 16 projects in the coming years, as well as to bring domestic vaccines to the Chinese market. Meanwhile, the head of state drew the attention of the head of the fund to the need for fair distribution of profits from sales of Russian drugs abroad, including vaccine developers.
What was discussed at the meeting
RDIF has invested 2.3 trillion rubles in the Russian economy during its work, said Kirill Dmitriev. The fund has been operating since 2011. More than 100 projects - from industrial production to high technologies - have been financed and approved. At the same time, Br1 trillion has been allocated to projects that started from scratch. In the last two years alone, the fund, together with its partners, invested RUB 250 billion. Thus, the coefficient of attracting funds amounted to 1 to 5, that is, for every ruble of RDIF there were five rubles from partners, Dmitriev explained.
The public funds invested in the fund were multiplied 5.7 times. In the near future RDIF plans to invest 16 more projects for 270 billion rubles. In addition, the fund has attracted more than €36 billion of foreign capital into the Russian economy. Moreover, over 90% of the fund's co-investors are from friendly countries. For example, RDIF has attracted 150 billion rubles from foreign partners to invest in the development of AI in Russia, said Kirill Dmitriev.
More details were given on the projects. According to the head of the fund, the organization is actively investing in infrastructure together with Asian partners. "Together with them we are building grain terminals that will supply our grain to Chinese markets, and we are also investing in a terminal for transshipment of liquefied hydrocarbon gases, which will also be in the Far East to help our cargoes go to China," he said.
The pharmaceutical industry was also touched upon. Dmitriev noted that Russia's successful work to fight the coronavirus has allowed the foundation to create a network of partners in different countries. In particular, the Foundation intends to continue bringing Gamaleya Institute vaccines to the Chinese market and to bring leading Chinese drugs to the Russian market. In this context, Vladimir Putin drew attention to the situation of domestic vaccine creators. "I asked that the developers of these drugs, so necessary for both our country and foreign countries, do not feel like strangers when there is a distribution of profits from the sale of these drugs. And I asked to make such a scheme, in which the developers would also receive certain funds, and not only for personal consumption, but also for the development of relevant areas of their activities," concluded Vladimir Putin.
