A draft plan to eliminate the consequences of the accident with tankers in the Black Sea, which caused a fuel oil spill, must be submitted by January 15. This instruction was given by Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev on January 13 at a meeting of the government commission on liquidation of the consequences of the tanker crash.

"Vitaly Savelyev instructed [head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry] Alexander Kurenkov to form a general plan of measures taking into account all directions related to the liquidation of the consequences of the emergency on land and sea, pumping fuel oil out of the tanks and lifting the vessels," the Russian government press service said in a statement.

In addition, it will be necessary to organize interaction with the population and volunteers, to assess the economic consequences of the emergency for the regions. Also for development and support of technological operations it is necessary that scientific organizations and professional community took part in this work. For this purpose, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov will join the activities of the Pravcomission, follows from the message.

Following the results of the meeting of the commission, its participants decided to form a permanent operative staff, which will coordinate the work of all parties both in the Krasnodar region and with trips to Crimea and Sevastopol. The order to create an operative staff Russian President Vladimir Putin gave on January 9, 2025 at a meeting with members of the government. It is specified that this body will be headed by Kurenkov.

Meetings of the Commission will be held weekly, and the operative staff - daily.

Earlier in the day, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region reported that the bulk of the fuel oil that leaked from the stern of the tanker "Volgoneft-239" near the shore in the Temryuksky district, managed to collect with the help of an excavator. Small areas of pollution are removed by volunteers with shovels, collecting in bags.

At the same time, the head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said that there were no global oil stains near the coast of the republic after the tanker crash. All the consequences of the oil spill near the coast of Crimea are planned to be eliminated by the beginning of the holiday season.

Tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" due to bad weather crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.

Later, on January 3, an oil slick was discovered in Sevastopol at the entrance to Balaklava Bay. The next day the fuel oil moved north along the Crimean coast, and in Sevastopol declared a state of emergency of regional character.

In addition, on January 11, the emergency threat regime of municipal character was introduced due to the identified fuel oil stains in the Chornomorsky district in the west of Crimea.
