Russian Prosecutor General's Office has questions about service on toll roads
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has inspected the activities of the state-owned company Avtodor and found an insufficient level of service on toll roads. This is reported in a statement on the website of the agency on January 13.
The prosecutors have revealed insufficient equipment and poor maintenance of roadside service facilities on toll roads. It is not specified to which particular highways there were questions.
"At the request of the supervisory agency, work on providing drivers with quality services has been intensified," the report says.
In total, last year the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation revealed more than 232 thousand violations in the field of road safety. For their elimination 33 thousand illegal legal acts were protested, almost 55 thousand representations were made, 35 thousand lawsuits were sent to court.
After the prosecutor's intervention over 31 thousand officials were brought to disciplinary responsibility, about 5 thousand - to administrative responsibility. More than 330 criminal cases were initiated on the materials of prosecutor's inspections, the statement said.
On December 12, 2024 it was reported that the Russian government approved a new plan for the construction of new federal toll roads by the state company "Avtodor" until 2030. The total amount of funds for the objects will increase by 20% - from 877 billion to 1.052 trillion rubles.
Before that, on December 9, it became known that budget revenues from fines for unpaid travel on federal toll roads for three years increased sixfold. Thus, in 2021-2024, the federal budget revenues from fines for unpaid travel amounted to Br2.9 billion. At the same time, in 2024, which has not yet ended, the collections reached 976.3 million rubles.
