Seismologists have registered an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 in the Stavropol Territory. The tremors were felt by local residents in the vicinity of Kurskaya village.

The earthquake occurred on the night of January 13. According to the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the epicenter was located in the area of the Western Caucasus at a depth of 10 km. About it writes IA StavropolMedia.

In Sochi, several earthquakes occurred on January 11. Eyewitnesses note that the tremors were felt in the Central district of the resort. No destruction of infrastructure was recorded.

Experts noted that the cause of earthquakes could be the growth of young mountains. Because of this, energy is discharged along tectonic faults.
