- Captured AFU soldier told about the bodies of fellow soldiers abandoned by the AFU on the battlefield
The bodies of dead Ukrainian soldiers are thrown on the battlefield. This was reported by a prisoner of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Pavlo Korokolin. The footage was distributed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on January 13.
"I have not seen a single one of the two hundredths to be taken away. This is wrong," he stated.
According to Korokolin, the Ukrainian command treats soldiers as cannon fodder. He also noted that the fighting spirit in the ranks of the AFU is "completely lost".
The Ukrainian prisoner said that employees of the territorial manning center (TCC, an analogue of the military recruitment office) forcibly brought him to a military unit. Soon he was transferred from Dnipropetrovsk region to Sumy region and then to Kursk region.
He noticed that he received a contusion on the third day of service on the front line and after that he decided to desert. However, he was caught and returned to the battalion.
"I was caught on the 2nd of December. And on the 6th I was brought back already to the first Streltsy battalion, the second company. And on the 8th I was already sent back. They said that to the position, they did not say where, they said that it was necessary to entrench there only", - he explained.
As a result, Korokolin decided to surrender to the Russian Armed Forces.
Earlier, on January 5, the AFU prisoner Vladimir Samorochenko from Dnipropetrovsk region said that he was forcibly seized by the staff of the territorial manning center and then sent for slaughter at the positions in the Kursk border area. According to him, when he was wounded, there was no more food or water, they could not even get ammunition and provisions.
In April last year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (his term of office expired on May 20, 2024) signed a law on toughening mobilization. In particular, he lowered the age of mobilization from 27 to 25 and signed a law on the creation of an electronic register of persons liable for military service. There are no provisions on demobilization in the documents.
Martial law in the country has been in force since February 2022. At the same time Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization. Later, the Verkhovna Rada repeatedly extended its effect. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are forbidden to leave the country.
