Another family with two children has returned to Russia from Syria. This was reported on January 12 by Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights.

"Dad, grandmother and two daughters 10 and 5 years old today on board the Russian Ministry of Defense landed in the Moscow region," she wrote in her Telegram-channel.

According to her, a way to assist in the return to Russia was found after the family's appeal. Throughout the time they were in touch with them.

The children's ombudsman noted that now the family will go to relatives in St. Petersburg.

Earlier, on December 26, 2024, Lvova-Belova reported on the return from Syria to Russia of two families with children - a mother with an infant, as well as a father, mother, grandfather and three children. She noted that the process of the Russians' return to the country went well.

Before that, on December 10, she reported on the search for solutions to evacuate Russians with children from Syria. Relevant appeals for assistance with evacuation were sent to the office of the children's ombudsman.

On December 8, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Bashar al-Assad, after negotiations with the opposition, left the post of the head of state and left the country, instructing to carry out the transfer of power peacefully.

On the same day, the national coalition of revolutionary and opposition forces of Syria announced the work on the formation of a transitional authority. In turn, Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali said that most of the ministers of the Syrian government remain in Damascus, and he himself is ready to cooperate with any elected leadership.

Against this backdrop, the IDF announced the deployment of forces along the Syrian border to ensure the safety of communities in the Golan Heights and Israeli citizens. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the demarcation agreement with Syria has been terminated due to the withdrawal of Syrian troops.

The situation in Syria has escalated following a major attack by militias in Aleppo and Idlib that began on November 28 and led to a Syrian army response against the militants.
