A bill to clarify the concept of "vacation" has been introduced in the State Duma

A bill has been submitted to the State Duma for consideration by deputies, which should eliminate legal uncertainty in the concept of "vacation". The corresponding document is posted in the Duma electronic database, the initiative was introduced by the Bryansk Regional Duma on January 9.

It is specified that the draft law "On Amendments to Article 107 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation" will help to eliminate ambiguities in the concept of "vacation", which is referred to in Article 107 of the Labor Code of Russia.

In the explanatory note, the authors of the project indicated that, according to the current law, vacation is "the longest type of rest". However, this concept is used without any specifics and explanations.

"According to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, the concept of "vacation" includes not only leave granted, actually, for rest, but also release from work in connection with pregnancy and childbirth, adoption of a child, to care for a child, leave to employees combining work with training (study leave)", - stated in the documents.

Bryansk deputies propose to specify in Article 107 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation that the term "vacation" refers only to annual paid labor leave.

Earlier, November 20, 2024, the head of legal practice service SuperJob Alexander Yuzhalin named the most unfavorable months for vacation in 2025. These, he noted, are January, as well as May, June and November. If an employee decides to go on vacation in these months, he may lose money (in the payment of vacation pay) compared to the salary, Yuzhalin pointed out. The most profitable months for vacation in 2025 are July and October, he noted in October.
