Oil products from the damaged part of the tanker "Volgoneft-239", which continue to leak out near the village of Volna in the urban district of Anapa, should be pumped out within 24 hours. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov on January 12, speaking about plans to eliminate the emergency situation on the Black Sea coast.
"Today, specific decisions have been made to download fuel oil from the tanker "Volgoneft-239" and its further utilization. The immediate tasks have been set, everyone involved in this event understands everything. Now only the struggle for deadlines. It takes 24 hours to solve this problem," his words are quoted in the Telegram channel of the Ministry.
The Minister clarified that everything necessary for the work - human forces, funds and equipment - is available. The work on liquidation continues and will not stop neither day nor night.
The Governor of Krasnodar Region Veniamin Kondratiev added that the main task for the region is to lay the road on which the machinery will go to scoop out the fuel oil and take it to the place of temporary storage. One day is also allotted for its solution. In the future it is important to prevent a new leakage of oil products and repeated contamination of the territory, he said.
In the morning of January 12, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations during an operational meeting in Anapa said that currently there is a difficult situation at the port of Taman, where fuel oil continues to flow out of the damaged part of the tanker "Volgoneft-239". Kurenkov noted that it is necessary to eliminate the leak as soon as possible and pump out fuel oil from the aft part of the tanker. He added that at the same time it is necessary to organize access to the tanker from the port side. All the necessary calculations have already been made.
On the same day the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the region Olga Shevtsova reported that during the day on January 11 in the Republic of Crimea was cleaned 13.9 km of coastline, collected 43.5 tons of soil and sand polluted as a result of the wreck of tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239".
The tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 due to bad weather. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
Later, on January 3, an oil slick was discovered in Sevastopol at the entrance to Balaklava Bay. The next day, it was reported about the advance of fuel oil to the north along the Crimean coast, and Sevastopol declared a state of emergency of regional character.
On January 11, the emergency threat regime of a municipal nature was introduced due to the identified fuel oil stains in the Chernomorsky district in the west of Crimea.
