RAO head Vasilyeva supported the introduction of integral assessment in schools
President of the Russian Academy of Education (RAO) Olga Vasilyeva said on Sunday, January 12, that the idea of introducing integral assessment in schools is reasonable.
"This is a reasonable idea. I have repeated many times that the result of school education is the result a child achieves in all subjects, not only in those he/she chose at the USE," she said in an interview with TASS.
Vasilyeva noted that it is necessary to create a new system of evaluation of graduates, which would take into account not only the results of the USE, but also their other achievements, abilities and talents, because the unified state exam does not fully provide this.
She added that the new system requires an individual approach to each child and society should trust teachers more in assessing children's performance.
Earlier, on December 10, 2024, Valery Fadeyev, head of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights (HRC), said that it is necessary to introduce an integral assessment of graduates' knowledge in schools. He noted that the average score could be taken into account when entering a university together with the results of the USE.
