- The Ukrainian armed forces closed the Gorlovka-Yasinovataya highway in the DNR due to shelling
Traffic on the Gorlovka-Yasynuvata highway in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has been temporarily closed due to shelling by Ukrainian militants, Gorlovka Mayor Ivan Prikhodko said on January 12.
"The passage along the Gorlovka-Yasinovataya highway, which is under continuous attacks by Ukrainian armed gangs, is temporarily closed," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
Prikhodko urged Gorlovka residents and guests to use other routes for transportation and not to risk their safety.
Earlier in the day, a bus driver was killed in Gorlovka in a drone attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Ukrainian militants dropped an explosive object on the vehicle in Nikitovsky district.
Before that, on January 4, on the highway connecting Donetsk, Horlivka and Yasinovataya, Izvestia correspondent Alexander Martemyanov was killed when an AFU drone hit a civilian car. He died of his wounds. A criminal case was opened under Articles 105 and 167 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Murder and attempted murder of two or more persons" and "Intentional damage to property").
Ukrainian militants are trying to strike at Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
