In Moscow, a cook is arrested for preparing to participate in terrorist activities

A foreign citizen, who worked as a cook in one of the national cuisine restaurants in Moscow, has been arrested on charges of preparing to participate in the activities of an organization, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia, he will stay in pre-trial detention until March 8, 2025. This was reported by "RIA Novosti" on January 12, referring to official court documents.

According to the documents, the criminal case was initiated in April 2024, with the term of the preliminary investigation extended to March to avoid attempts by the accused to abscond and continue to engage in criminal activity.

According to the investigator, at the moment it is necessary to obtain the conclusion of a comprehensive psychological and linguistic forensic examination, to conduct an outpatient psychological and psychiatric examination and to perform other investigative and procedural actions.

Earlier, January 3, deputy head of inspection of the technical audit center of the infrastructure inspection of Russian Railways Yuri Martyanovwas arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack. It is noted that Martyanov's arrest has been extended until February 22, 2025.
