Economist predicted discounts of 50% on sweet gifts by January 20
Prices for children's gifts are rapidly decreasing, and by the 20th of January discounts will amount to 50%. This was reported by Igor Balynin, candidate of economic sciences, associate professor of the Department of Public Finance of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, in an interview with "Gazeta.Ru" on Saturday, January 11.
"It's time to start looking at the prices of children's sweet gifts. Retail chains are already starting to make discounts. This is due to the fact that at the New Year holidays many of the sets could not be sold, and before the next New Year they will spoil. So far it is 10-20%, by the beginning of the third decade of January discounts can reach 50%", - he said.
Balynin reminded that when buying it is important to pay attention to the expiration date, because in sweet gifts unscrupulous manufacturers sometimes pack candies with expired expiration date.
"It is important to pay attention to the composition of gift sets (sometimes the specified discounts are imaginary: in fact there are candies there, the prices for which are initially lower)," - emphasized the specialist.
Earlier, January 9, Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit said that from January 10, all Russian airlines will provide a 50% discount for children under 12 years old. According to him, the main air carriers implemented the sale of tickets with a 50% discount for children at the end of December 2024.
On December 20, "Izvestia" got acquainted with the draft standard of Roskachevo for a gift for newborns. It is planned to be approved by the middle of 2025, the organization said. It follows that the gift may include baby clothes and accessories, as well as baby care items for babies from zero to six months.
