Almost every person sometimes faces headaches, but frequent headaches can be a symptom of serious health problems, and then it is urgent to consult a neurologist. This was warned by Galina Nevryuzina, a children's neurologist of the highest category of "SM-Clinic" for children, in an interview with "Gazeta.Ru" on Saturday, January 11.

According to her, there are about 300 types of headache. Different treatment works against different symptoms. Often a person, faced with such a problem, starts taking painkillers, and thinks about a visit to the doctor only when the drugs no longer work.

"Everyone should remember that frequent, recurring attacks of headache may be symptoms of pathology, the definition of which with the help of professional examination helps to identify the disease at the first stages, exclude negative consequences and promotes early recovery. In no case you should not lose precious time", - explained the specialist.

She emphasized that it is necessary to correctly identify the type of headache and find the causes of its occurrence. On the correctness of the conclusion made will depend on the result of treatment.

"In quite a large number of cases, headache is not the main pathological process, accompanying another disease and being its symptom, sometimes dangerous. Such cases can include: serious intoxication of the body (for example, in viral diseases or food poisoning); inflammatory and infectious diseases of the nasopharynx; developing problems in the cervical spine, accompanied by disorders of blood supply to the brain; infectious lesions of the cortex and substance of the brain," - explained the doctor.

Among the symptoms that indicate serious pathologies and signal the need for urgent hospitalization, include sudden, comparable to the sensation of a blow to the head, the appearance of pain, unbearably severe pain, loss of consciousness, seizures, altered state of consciousness, sharp deterioration of vision, numbness of various parts of the body. Also, the alarm should begin to beat in cases when a person against the background of headache rises body temperature.

"Attempts to independently determine the causes and methods of treatment of headache home folk remedies most often lead to distortion of the clinical manifestations of the disease, which can make it difficult to make an accurate diagnosis. Modern methods of examination help in each case to establish the true causes of headaches, to take timely measures for their treatment, to return the patient to a full life", - concluded Nevryuzina.

Earlier, on January 11, psychologist, expert in working with entrepreneurs and managers Ekaterina Gavrilova said that headaches may indicate, among other symptoms, chronic stress. She also noted that a psychologist can help identify the cause of stress and develop a plan to overcome this situation.

Before that, on December 25, Svetlana Kuprina, therapist, doctor of ultrasound "INVITRO - Voronezh" said that the greatest sensitivity to changes in the weather have people with cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, coronary heart disease), neurological problems (migraine), endocrine disorders and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. In this category of patients, headaches may occur during changes in weather conditions, among other things.
