- Wounded Russian Armed Forces fighter called laying flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier a dream come true
Sidam Nikolaev, a wounded member of the Special Military Operation (SMO), who, moving on crutches, laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Saturday, January 11, told Izvestia that he had long dreamed of honoring the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
"I have long planned to go there, it has been a dream since childhood, after all, my grandfather fought in the war. I wanted to go initially from Rostov, it didn't work out, I was wounded, we came home, we celebrated the New Year, I told my wife: we have to go. I wanted to go for a long time, I dreamed of going for a long time. It turned out that I got there. I bought flowers, came to the memorial and, accordingly, I laid flowers at the Unknown Soldier," he said.
Nikolaev noted that the Soviet military performed a feat by defending the homeland during the war, and now the Russian military is doing the same in a special operation, defending the country from the Nazis.
Nikolayev, 38, a former construction worker, became a member of the 150th Guards Motorized Rifle Division after the special operation began, deciding he couldn't stay away when his comrades were defending the homeland. After treatment, he plans to return to the ranks and continue his service.
Earlier, on January 9, social media posted a video of a wounded special operation veteran on crutches laying flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow.
