British actor Jude Law will play the role of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the movie "The Wizard of the Kremlin" by French director Olivier Assayas. This was reported on January 10 by Deadline.

The publication noted that Jude Law plans to take a supporting role in The Wizard of the Kremlin, where he will play a politician at the beginning of his managerial career.

"I say hesitantly because I haven't really started working on it yet. Right now it's like climbing Mount Everest, like I'm standing at the base of the mountain and looking up and thinking, 'Oh my God, what did I say?', which is how I often feel when I say yes," the actor told Deadline.

According to Lowe, he enjoys challenging acting roles and unexpected offers. He noted that he loves it when the opportunity presents itself to work on characters that "take you further away from yourself."

The book by writer and journalist Giuliano da Empoli explores the nuances of the work of a fictional Russian president and paints a positive image of him. It is noted that after the publication of the work in February 2022, da Empoli became a popular expert, who began to be invited to lunch with the Prime Minister of France and the leading French news channels to give his opinion on the situation in Ukraine.

Earlier, on January 22, 2023, the NYT wrote about the fear in France after the publication of the novel "The Kremlin Wizard." The popularity of the novel, which sold more than 430,000 copies, raised fears among anti-Russian critics. They emphasized that the book's influence is already evident in the rhetoric of French President Emmanuel Macron in particular.
