Coffee prices at the majority of firms continue to increase due to the growth of the cost of processed goods, which is caused by the rise in the price of raw materials, increased costs of doing business, rising tariffs and changes in dollar exchange rates. Ramaz Chanturia, general director of Roschaikofe, told Izvestia on January 11.

"If we look historically, the cost of arabica has already risen to such values in 2011, but the cost of robusta has never gone beyond reasonable, which mitigated the overall situation in the market and allowed coffee players to compensate for price fluctuations," Chanturia explained.

According to him, the simultaneous increase in prices for Arabica and Robusta has never been recorded before, which leads to difficult conditions and creates anxiety among both coffee industry representatives and coffee lovers. The situation on the coffee market largely depends on price fluctuations in the main coffee markets.

According to the expert, the upward trend in prices will continue at least in the first quarter of 2025. The selling prices of most companies continue to grow due to the increase in the cost of finished processed products, which is associated with the rise in the price of raw materials, financial costs of business service, increased tariffs, as well as exchange rate fluctuations in the dollar, which directly affect the cost of production, since all coffee raw materials are imported products.

The expert noted that the rise in coffee prices will affect the premium segment to a greater extent, and will also slightly affect economy class products.

"We can assume that the price range for coffee will increase, but I cannot predict retail prices, as retailers, not the industry, are responsible for them. When and how the cost for consumers will increase is difficult to say," Chanturia summarized.

Last year, on November 24, Dmitry Semiryadov, a nutritionist and nutritionist, told Izvestia about the benefits and harms of coffee, in what quantities it can be consumed and why it makes you feel stronger. According to him, one should seriously consider reducing coffee consumption or giving it up if it is hard for a person to wake up without coffee and feels a loss of energy, headache, etc.
