- A case has been opened against a passenger who went on a rampage on the Nizhnekamsk-Moscow flight
A criminal case has been opened against a passenger of the Nizhnekamsk-Moscow flight who claimed to have two explosive devices with him. This was reported on Friday, January 10, by the press service of the Transport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Central Federal District.
The passenger who reported a bomb on board the plane turned out to be a 42-year-old resident of Naberezhnye Chelny.
"In the course of the inspection it was established that this citizen, being on board the aircraft, demonstrating an obvious disregard for society and the principles of public safety, flagrantly violating social norms of behavior, made a deliberately false message about an act of terrorism on board the aircraft, by saying to the airline staff about threats of an impending explosion", - stated in the message of the department in Telegram-channel.
A criminal case under part 2 of article 207 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Pledgedly false report of an act of terrorism committed against objects of social infrastructure") has been opened against the man. He faces three to five years of imprisonment.
"At present, the court is considering the issue of his detention in respect of the defendant," the Interior Ministry added.
The incident occurred the day before. The passenger reported that he had two explosive devices with him. He also attacked a woman on board. She was not injured. The plane landed in an emergency at Sheremetyevo airport. The aircraft and luggage were checked, no explosive devices were found.
