State Traffic Police warned drivers about raids in the regions
On Friday and the next weekend, January 10-12, employees of the State Automobile Inspectorate will conduct mass and continuous checks on the roads, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The raids were announced by regional departments of the State Automobile Inspectorate.
Raids and preventive measures will be held on the roads of the Moscow region, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Sverdlovsk region, the Tver region, the Saratov region, the Ryazan region, the Republic of Bashkortostan and other regions of the country.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Automobile Inspectorate reminds drivers of the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. Mass checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who sat behind the wheel after drinking alcohol are regularly carried out by traffic inspectors at the weekend.
"Seeing that a drunk person sat behind the wheel, behaves inadequately, creates dangerous situations on the road, do not remain indifferent - report it to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will certainly take all necessary measures to respond to such reports", - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of propaganda of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.
He reminded that driving while intoxicated is extremely dangerous and unacceptable in itself. And in winter, in icy conditions and poor visibility, drunk driving leaves not even the slightest chance for a successful completion of the trip and endangers the lives of surrounding road users, Belan emphasized.
On the eve it was reported that from January 1 to January 8, 1842 accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 265 people were killed and 2697 injured. As a result of 428 accidents involving pedestrians 65 people were killed, another 383 were injured of varying severity.
