A criminal case was initiated against a man who beat his dog with a hammer in Kaliningrad. This was reported by the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region on January 10.

It is specified that the incident occurred in early December 2024. The pensioner appealed to the police with a complaint about the cruel treatment of her son with a dog named Lida. Law enforcement arrived on the scene, picked up the animal and took it to a veterinary clinic, where the dog was found to have multiple bruises and skull trauma, as well as the loss of an eye. The suspect was detained for 12 days for disorderly conduct.

"The attacker explained his aggressive behavior by the fact that the dog was slow to follow his commands," - indicated in the Telegram-channel of the Department.

Against the man opened a criminal case under part 1 of article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruel treatment of animals"), he faces up to three years in prison.

Earlier, on October 30, 2024, in the Moscow region chose a measure of restraint for a man who tied a dog to the car and drove it through the village. A criminal case on cruel treatment of animals (Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was initiated.
