The Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RAMI) has come out in favor of adjusting proposals to notify drivers when a CMTPL insurance contract expires. In such a format, as proposed by deputies, this norm will not work for the majority of short policies. This is stated in the message of the Union, which was received by "Izvestia" on January 10.

"We have one- two- three-day policies. How can car owners in such a case be warned 10, much less 20 days before their expiration date?" - explained in the RAMI.

As noted in the Union, when concluding a policy in electronic format, the insurance company has the phone number and e-mail of the client. However, when concluding a paper CMTPL policy, these data are not available, so such methods will not work, explained the RAMI.

On the introduction of the bill in the State Duma earlier in the day announced the head of the Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov (LDPR). He proposed to oblige insurers to inform about the expiration of MTPL insurance not later than 10 calendar days and not earlier than 20 calendar days before. The deputy explained that even law-abiding drivers do not always remember in time about the approaching expiration of the contract.

Also on January 10, it was reported that at the end of 2024 the state information system "ERA-GLONASS" transferred to emergency services 92.8 thousand calls for road accidents, the figure for the year increased by more than 10%.
