Sevastopol resident sentenced to 11 years in prison for preparing a terrorist attack

A resident of Sevastopol, who tried to commit a terrorist act at a transport infrastructure facility on the instructions of the Ukrainian special service, has been sentenced to 11 years in a strict regime colony. This was reported on January 10 by the FSSB of Russia in the Republic of Crimea and the city.

It is specified that in 2023, a local resident established contact with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) for confidential cooperation. According to the received task, he was to set fire to specialized equipment, which would lead to disruptions in the operation of railway transport. However, the attacker was detained at the scene of the crime.

The court found the man guilty of crimes under Art. 275.1 ("Cooperation on a confidential basis with a foreign state, international or foreign organization"), part 1 of Art. 30, part 1 of Art. 205 ("Preparation of a fire"). 1 of Art. 205 ("Preparing to commit a terrorist act") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced him to 11 years' imprisonment in a strict regime colony, with the first three years to be served in prison. In addition, he was assigned restriction of freedom for one year.

"The sentence has not entered into legal force," - stated in the message of the agency.

Earlier, on January 5, arrested three teenagers who planned a terrorist attack in Yekaterinburg. According to the investigation, the crimes were committed by prior conspiracy of the defendants. The suspects are in custody until February 21.
