The ERA-GLONASS system transmitted over 92 thousand emergency calls for the year

At the end of 2024, the state information system "ERA-GLONASS" transferred to the emergency services 92.8 thousand calls for road accidents, the figure for the year increased by more than 10%. This was reported to "Izvestia" on January 10 in the press service of the operator.

Last December, a record number of emergency calls for the month was recorded - 10.3 thousand. In total, the state information system transmitted 434 thousand calls for road accidents during its work.

According to the Director General of JSC "GLONASS" Alexei Raikevich, most (83%) of all emergency messages for the year were received by automatic activation of SOS buttons or devices for calling emergency services in cars. This shows the severity of accidents where drivers or passengers were unable to summon help themselves, he explained.

On December 27, 2024, it was reported that the Kaliningrad plant Avtotor will launch a new enterprise for the production of electronic control units for cars. The capacity of the enterprise allows to produce up to 1 million products per year. Contracts have already been signed for the supply of devices for the ERA-GLONASS system and telematics unit, which are planned to be used to equip part of the model range of cars produced at the plant.
