Number of fires reduced 2.5 times in the Pskov region
Over the New Year vacations in the Pskov region there were 21 man-made fires. This is 2.5 times less than in the same period of 2024.
According to the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, eight fires occurred due to violations of fire safety rules when using stove equipment. The source of three more fires was boiler equipment, writes Pskov newswire. The cause of five fires was a malfunction of power grids.
As a result of fires one person died, one more person was injured. 29 people were rescued, including three children.
The emergency rescue service made 20 trips during the vacations.
In Udmurtia on January 4, a wooden house for six apartments in the village of Yagan caught fire. The source of the fire was an electric oil radiator. Due to the fact that evacuation routes were cut off, a mother with a child, her husband and father jumped out of the window on the second floor. A 72-year-old woman remained in the apartment and died. A man also died in the neighboring apartment.
