Ex-head of Zabaikalye district to be sentenced for building a substandard dam
In Transbaikalia, the ex-head of Alexandrovo-Zavodsky district will stand trial. He is accused of exceeding his authority during the construction of a dam. The criminal case was initiated based on the results of the prosecutor's audit.
The investigation found that in 2022 the district administration concluded municipal contracts for 8 million rubles with an entrepreneur and an organization for the development of design documentation, construction of a dam on the Gazimur River, as well as construction supervision.
In December 2022, the authorities accepted the work, despite the fact that the materials for the construction of the dam were replaced with low-quality materials. In addition, the slope layout was missing and there was no drainage ditch. No quality expertise was conducted.
As a result, the water level in the Kudikan and Talman Rivers rose during heavy rainfall in July 2023. This showed that the dam is not able to protect the village Alek-Zavod from floods, writes IA ChitaMedia with reference to the regional prosecutor's office.
Earlier, in August, it was reported that due to heavy precipitation in Petrovsk-Zabaikalsky municipal district and Aginsky district of Transbaikalia was introduced emergency regime of regional character. More than 50 rescuers were involved in liquidation of the consequences of the disaster. Five bridges in Petrovsk-Zabaikalsky were also damaged due to floods.
