Russian President Vladimir Putin has become the leader of the rating of the main politicians of 2024 according to the results of a survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for Public Opinion Research (VTsIOM). This was reported on the website of the center on January 9.

The poll was conducted on December 21 among 1.6 thousand Russians over 18 years old.

"The politician of 2024 Russians named Vladimir Putin (50%). The President of Russia has consistently taken the first place in this rating since the beginning of measurements in 2006 - in December polls he was mentioned on average by half of Russians", - specified sociologists.

The second place was taken by Chairman of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin (18%), the third place went to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov (14%). This top three has not ceded positions to other politicians since 2021, the center noted.

The head of the Russian Defense Ministry Andrei Belousov (7%) appeared in the rating for the first time. Russians' answers also included State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, and Russia's post representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya - they have 2% each.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and CPRF leader Gennady Zyuganov each scored 1%. Among the women mentioned by fellow citizens, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova was also mentioned.

Earlier, on December 27, 2024, it was reported that the level of trust in Putin among fellow citizens for the week amounted to 79.7%. The index of approval of the activities of the head of state amounted to 76.8%.

Peskov noted back in early July that the high level of support for Putin among Russians was due to the results of his daily responsible work.
