An Amur resident suspected of preparing a sabotage on the Trans-Siberian Railway under the guidance of a Ukrainian terrorist organization has been detained in the Amur Region. This was reported by the Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Amur region on January 9.
"The FSSB of Russia in the Amur region suppressed the illegal activity of a resident of the Amur region, who was preparing a sabotage act on a section of the Trans-Siberian Railway, which is of key importance for uninterrupted federal transport communication", - informed the press service of the agency.
It is specified that the 39-year-old man, who through messenger corresponded with a representative of the Ukrainian terrorist organization, purchased components for the production of a homemade explosive device and offered to commit a sabotage-terrorist act on the railway crossing Belogorsk - Ukraine, Amur region. After committing the terrorist act, the Amur resident planned to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF).
The FSSB of Russia in the Amur region specified that criminal proceedings were initiated against the man under articles part 1 of article 30, paragraph "a" part 2 of article 281, part 1 of article 30, part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation for sabotage and participation in the activities of the organization, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia).
Earlier, on December 16, 2024, the Military Court sentenced Vasily Zharkov, accused of state treason, participation in the terrorist organization "Legion of Freedom of Russia" (recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia) and in the preparation of sabotage at strategic facilities in the Moscow region, to 19 years in prison. The convict himself did not admit guilt, and his lawyer explained his client's actions by "hormonal failure due to the lack of love relationships."
